Ingredients
2 Cups Flour
4 Tsp Baking Powder
1 Tbsp Sugar
1 Tsp Salt
⅓ Cup Cold Butter
1-2 Eggs (optional use a second egg to eggwash the biscuits before baking)
¾ Cup Cold Milk
Instructions
Makes Approximately: 12 Biscuits
Total Prep Time: 10 Minutes
Total Cook Time: 12-15 Minutes
Preheat the oven to 350 Degrees Fahrenheit.
Combine flour, baking powder, sugar and salt into a medium sized bowl.
Add cold butter to the dry ingredients, and cut in using a fork or pastry blender. Cut in the butter until dry mixture is crumbly and butter chunks are pea-sized.
In a separate, smaller bowl, whisk together the egg and the milk.
Add the wet ingredients to the dry, and mix just until combined.
Place the biscuit dough on a lightly floured surface and form into a circle, approximately 1.5 inches thick.
Lay parchment paper on a large baking sheet.
Use a cookie cutter or circular glass to cut the biscuits into circular shapes.
Clump together all of the extra edges (waste from circular cuttings) to make a mega biscuit (this is THE BEST biscuit - me and my Mom always split it because it’s seriously so good).
Place all of the biscuits onto the lined baking sheet.
Beat one egg in a small bowl and gently brush each biscuit with the egg wash.
Put the biscuits in the oven for 12-15 minutes.
Take out of the oven - add butter and enjoy!
