Website Help

Let’s dive into some of the subtleties of Kate’s Kitchen Online to explain why it’s not your average food blog. Each of the headings below describes the tabs found along the toolbar on the upper right-hand side of the website.

Creations Page

The landing page features my latest sixteen recipes - with the most recent ones closer to the top of the page. Simply click the picture of the recipe you want to view and it will expand to reveal the video recipe and the written recipe - including the ingredients and instructions.

Why I love this page: the recipes are at the forefront of the website and it’s very easy to navigate through new content, but most of all there’s no interruptions between you and the recipe you want! Say goodbye to scrolling through endless blog posts and advertisements.

About Page

This page just kinda lays out why I created this website and how I developed my style in the kitchen. It will give you some insight into the logic behind the way that I cook, and hopefully serve up some inspiration to get you in the kitchen trying new things.

And if reading isn’t your thing, there’s also an introduction video which covers the same things.

Tips Page

Sometimes recipes can be intimidating, especially as a new cook, so I made a page which covers the most valuable things I have learned through all my years of trial and error in the kitchen. There’s nine tips currently available, with new ones being uploaded as I discover new things that I think would be beneficial to share with you.

Stories Page

Although this isn’t your average food blog, there is still blog content to be found! The Stories page contains an archive of all my blogs and vlogs, so you can peruse a variety of written and filmed topics, including: cooking videos with different guests, written personal blogs about developing in personal health and wellness, how varying diets have affected my cooking…with lot’s more to come.

You can navigate these posts by looking at the grey text next to the blog/vlog title. The categories might include: community partner, vlog, blog, random dinner guest, personal, research, etc. You can click on the category or format type (vlog/blog) that interests you and it will filter all of the posts to reflect the category you selected.

ARchive Page

The Archive page has every recipe I’ve ever posted, so any recipe you’ve seen on my Instagram profile will have a home on the Archive page. There’s also a variety of ways to navigate and sort this page which makes it a very powerful tool.

When you arrive on the Archive page, the recipe posts will be laid out in chronological order with the most recent recipes at the top.

There are grey categories by each recipe title, including the meal occasion (lunch, supper, breakfast, snack, baking), as well as different features of the recipe, such as: “Freezable, “Slow Cook”, “Fave" (reflecting my personal favourite recipes), the level of difficulty of the recipe (“Level 1, Level 2, Level 3” - with 1 being the easiest), “5 Ingredients or Less”, “and 30 Minutes or Under”. You can click on the grey categories if you wish to filter all of the recipes by that category.

For example, if you wish to see all of the “Level 1” recipes, just click on the grey word “Level 1” below one of the recipe images and all recipes categorized as Level 1 will appear on the page.

Search Page

When you land on the Search Page you can see all the recipes from the Archive page laid out by the month they were posted in - providing a quick and easy chronological visual for finding recipes.

You can also use the Search page to look up the categories (as mentioned in the Archive description above) or more specific tags which relate to ingredients used in each recipe. For example you can search “zucchini” and the page will filter to show all the recipes with that ingredient. This “tag” tool can help you find recipes which reflect the ingredients you have on hand.

Each recipe has unique categories and tags which are all searchable!
